6th Economic Forum of Young Leaders
Memorandum on future youth policy and future of European Youth Programmes was the main outcome of the 6th Economic Forum of Young Leaders. The Forum organized by our Foundation took place between 6th and 10th September in Nowy Sącz.
The special guest of 2011 Forum was Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia. He was one of many eminent leaders who offered their advice and analyses to more than 250 young leaders from 37 countries. As President Saakashvili proclaimed, "politics is becoming more younger and more energetic.. don't wait".
There were many lectures and panel discussion during four days Forum. The issues ranged from the future of Schengen zone, the Euro crisis, 20 years of transformation in Central and Eastern Europe to migration and beyond.
Among guests and panelists there were: Ene Ergma - President of Parliament of Estonia, Georgi Baramidze - Vice-Prime Minister, State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration in Georgia, Zhelyu Zhelev - former President of Bulgaria, Rosalia Arteaga - President of Ecuador (1997), FIDAL Foundation, Vincent Van Dessel - Chairman and CEO of NYSE Euronext Brussels, Alexander Lehmann - Senior Economist and Head of the Region, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Łukasz Foltyn - Founder of Gadu Gadu, Polish most popular internet communicator.
On last day of the Forum participants accepted the memorandum on future youth policy, especially on independent European Youth programme based on no-formal education principles.

Where to the internship? - We invite employers!
We invite entrepreneurs to join the project and the organization of internships.
At the final stage of participation in the project "I go back to work!" project participants held a 3-month professional internship, during which they can use in practice knowledge and skills acquired during the training. Therefore, we invite entrepreneurs to join the project and the organization of internships.

We begin the implementation of vocational training for participants in the project "I go back to work!".
End of holidays is an intensive time for the participants of the second edition of the project.

How to properly write a CV and letter of intent?
These and many other questions are looking for answers of participants of the III. counseling session within the project "I go back to work!".
Counselors cooperating with us lead activities that aim to construct valid application documents and to prepare for interviews with employers. This is the last chance to consult with experts before the start of recruitment for job placement.

Ecological youth exchange BE ECO finished with big success!
On the 31st of August 2011 we finished with huge success another international exchange –BE ECO!
Results of the exchange have risen above our expectacions!
Main points of the program have been fulfilled. The most important goal: a show about ecology in everyday life was held on 30th of August 2011 along Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, drawing stangers attencion. The first part of the show was a protest from Lithuanian Square to Lublin City Hall.
Young peole were holding banners and screaming quotes assiociated with eco-frendly attitude. Then, at the City Hall the main play and FASHION SHOW! were held. In the latter we performed in outfits made from ‘junk’. During the exchange we also participated in many workshops. The main were: How to reuse things creatively, DEBATE – Ecology in our homelands, Healthy eating workshops, Drama workshops that helped us in prepariation for the show. Besides we also had an opportunity to share our traditions and customs during the evenings: Polish, Greek, Lithuanian and Bulgarian. Video about our exchange and show is being prepared.

A New Labour Market Institute project – „Future Te@cher”
In the beginning of September Labour Market Institute starts to implement a new project under the European Social Fund. Within the “Future te@cher” project we offer new technologies and distance learning trainings for professional education teachers in Łódzkie Region. Project will be realized until 31.07.2012
New Technologies allow to create a wide educational offer directed to students, considering their individual needs. There are tools available on the market that allow student to communicate with a teacher at a distance, create and check school tests and supervise students’ activity. Thanks to skills acquired during the training, it will be possible to add a distance learning to traditional education system from which students will benefit.

Labour Market Institute
New Labour Market Institute publication available!
Publication titled „Professional Counseling. Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Norway” was issued within “Transfer of know-how on professional counseling for young people” project co-financed from Norwegian Financial Mechanism and EEA. The publication consists of two thematic materials: methodical notebook and good practices in professional counseling for young people.
The publication presents in details professional counseling system, methods and tools using in professional counseling in Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Norway. It also contains description and examples useful in counselor’s everyday work.
There are also good practices (projects, tools) using in professional counseling for youth attached.
Publication is available for free at the Labour Market Institute office under limited specimen number.

Happy ending of the „Open-Independent-Active” project
We are delighted to inform that the “Open-Independent-Active” project has just finished.
This project was carried out with the support of the European Social Fund and was addressed to unemployed women living in Ostrołęka region.
Over 80 women took part in workshops, computer trainings, personal professional counseling, vocational trainings and 3-5 months internships. All participants are very satisfied with received support and are keen to recommend participation in this kind of projects to others.
The project also received very warm welcome from local authorities, institutions and entrepreneurs that helped to organize internships for our participants.

Presidency at your fingertips
The Project "Presidency at your fingertips” ended.
Within the project we implemented following events:
Special internet site
to promote the project and to enable the participants to take part in the events. It was also the main page of the interactive contest on presidency; we placed the training materials there that helped the participants of simulation of EU Council proceedings the preparation to this event.
Interactive contest about the Presidency (1-19.04.2011)
The competition was aimed for junior high school students and the schools of Lublin Province. They answered questions about the presidency on a special website. The scope of the competition covered the following topics: the presidency, the Council of the European Union, as well as the priorities of the polish presidency.
Simulation of EU Council proceedings
a competition for students of schools form the Lubelskie Region. 6 teams of 3 persons each took part in the competition. The aim was to encourage young people to discuss and to get to know the European Union better.
Conference on Polish Presidency of the EU Council entitled
“Chances and challenges of Polish Presidency in the EU Council”
held on 13 April 2011. It was addressed to the inhabitants of Lublin, students, academics, NGO workers, local and regional media. It was devoted to issues of the Eastern Partnership, legal bases of the Presidency and cultural cooperation in Europe. The conference was held at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration at the Catholic University of Lublin John Paul II. It was broadcasted through Internet at: http://www.prezydencja2011.org and www.europeanweb.tv.

Labour Market Institute
"Time for activity”
On September 1st we started the realization of a new project in the Podlaskie Region: "Time for activity”. The project is realized under the European Social Fund.
The goal of the project is to increase the chances of disabled people to return to the labour market.
We welcome men and women living in Podlaskie Region who are unemployed.
Participants in the project will receive support in determining their personal and professional predispositions and planning the course of their career (psychological support and individual career guidance). They will gain skills for maneuvering in the working field (group career guidance), increase their qualifications (computer and vocational courses), and will have the opportunity to use their gained skills (5-month-long internship).
For the participants of this project we guarantee the reimbursement of transportation costs, meals during the courses, educational and training scholarships. Participation in all of the courses is free of charge.

International training course on activating young people in Nasutów
Activate Youth training course is organized in order to gather youth workers from partner countries such as: Italy, Estonia, Greece, Portugal, Latvia, Romania, Lithuania and Poland and gain some new knowledge about activating young people in their work.
The main goal of the training course is to discuss the issue of passive participation of young people, discuss new methods of activating youth and share with other youth workers experience and good practices. The training course is the result of common needs of youth workers, who had noticed in their countries common problems (inactive young people).

Polish minor community meeting
„Voluntary work across the boarders” soon in Nasutów!
Within one week European Meeting Centre in Nasutów will be hosting Polish minor community youth from the East. Between 4th – 14th September “Voluntary across the borders” project will take place.
Polish minor community meeting „Voluntary across the borders” will be 11 day youth leaders meeting, representing Polish institutions, NGOs and schools from Belarus, Georgia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia and Moldova.

Summary gethering of the project "Working Graduate"
On 26 August 2011 in the Banquet Hall of the Hotel Ambassador in Rzeszow the summary gathering for the project “Working Graduate” was held.
The summary gathering for the project co-financed by European Social Found of the European Union was held in the center of Rzeszow. The gathering progressed in a pleasant atmosphere. A vocational counselor showed a presentation having to do with young people in the working field of the Podkarpackie Region. Participants of the gathering shared their thoughts about the project. Those who spoke up during the gathering were project participants, their parents, and among others, employers, who provided project participants with internships.

Training „Youth entrepreneurship”
On 21-22 of September Europe Direct – Lublin Information Point invites to a training called” Youth entrepreneurship”. We invite students from high schools and their teachers.
The aims of the training are:
supporting the active attitudes of youth in planning and creating of their professional future in conjunctions with the possibilities which gives the participation of Poland in the European Union,
strengthening the entrepreneurship among youth,
developing of the abilities to adapt to the changing labour market conditions,
showing the possible sources of knowledge and methods of using them in order to prepare for functioning on the labour market,
working out the ability of self-presentation and effective search for work also on the European labour market,
supporting schools in planning of education and professional career.
From each school we invite one teacher and two students.
The workshops will be held simultaneously in 2 groups: teachers and students.
The training will take place on 21-22 September 2011 in the conference centre in Nasutów near Lublin (European Meeting Centre).

“Youth4Youth” – second international meeting in Nasutów.
From 14 - 21 September in Nasutów near Lublin will be held the second international meeting as a continuation of the previous meeting of young leaders from Poland and Italy. The meeting’s light motive is be peer education and mobilization of young people to act in their local communities.
The meeting is being implemented within the project entitled "Youth 4 Youth" and as the title indicates by itself was initiated by an informal group of young people "The Chosen Ones". The group is realizing the project in order to show the existing possibilities among their peers to engage their selves in projects and become active.
During the meeting in Nasutow Polish and Italian groups will be conducting workshops for each other on the active participation and project’s coordination. In addition, young people will have the opportunity to participate in a one day workshop with a psychologist, designed to assess their ability to be educators among their peers.

Ist international meeting In frame of „Youth 4 Youth” project
has ended with success.
First international meeting, with young leaders from Poland and Italy, took place between 9th – 16th of August in Pesaro, Italy. The main topic of the meeting was peer education as well as activating young people to taking up activeness in their local communities. European Meeting Centre – Nowy Staw Foundation was the organizer of the meeting.
The meeting was organized in frames of longer project entitled “Youth 4 Youth”, which was initiated by informal youth group “The chosen ones” and has been realized in cooperation with European Meeting Centre and partner from Italy.

RCIE / Europe Direct Lublin
Polish Presidency if the EU Council. Summer meetings with euro and Europe.
The polish Presidency in the EU Council was an inspiration of this year’s action „Summer with Central Bank” in Lublin in cooperation with Regional Centre for European Information in Lublin and the Lublin Region Office. We organized more than 50 meetings.
There was a special educational programme prepared for this project directed to children from the region. The project was held from 29 June till 22 July and aimed at delivering knowledge about the polish Presidency in an attractive and interesting way. The activities connected with euro currency and increased the knowledge about countries of European Union, euro currency and about the UE in general.
