This years` Congress of Eastern Europe Initiatives was full of interesting events. One of them was the debate “Eastern Partnership – civil society: cooperation, development, challenges” organized by Regional Centre of International Debate in Lublin.
The debate took place on 2nd October 2013 in Centre of Culture in Lublin. The participants were: Marcin Żochowski (Head of Departure of Eastern Partnership and UE Policy towards Eastern Europe of Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Kamil Wyszkowski (Director of Project Office of UNDP in Poland) and Tomasz Różniak (Chairman of European Meeting Centre - Nowy Staw Foundation). Moderator was Dr Tomasz Stępniewski z from Institute for Central-Eastern Europe in Lublin.
The representative of the Ministry said that Eastern Partnership became an integral element of EU policy. This was confirmed by Kamil Wyszkowski who also stated that it is worth observing the policy of Turkey that tries to benefit from this Programme for its own purposes. Tomasz Różniak expressed the role of Eastern Partnership and the need to continue the Programme. He pointed out the need to build compatibility between countries of Partnership as each of them is different.
The debate was a part of Congress of Eastern Europe Initiatives that took place for the second time. The Congress creates a space for dialogue between European Union and the countries of Eastern Partnership. The organizers were: President of Lublin, Marshall of Lubelskie Voivodship and the Director of UNDP in Poland. A partner of the Congress was Regional Centre of International Debate in Lublin.
