Father Ludwik Wiśniewski, Dominican and pastor of European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation was awarded The Ambassador of the Lublin Region title.
The title is awarded since 1999. It is given to individuals, companies and institutions that promote the Lublin Region in the country and abroad.
The title is awarded by the jury that is composed of representatives of the authorities of Lublin Region (the Marshall, Members of The Board, Chairman of the Council) and chairmen of local media. Father Ludwik Wiśniewski is a founder of Złota 9 Academy – a school of civic service for young people from Lublin Region.
He’s been devoted to youth work not only in Lublin but also in Gdańsk, Wrocław and Kraków for many years.
Father Ludwik gained a wide recognition also for his activity in anti-communist movement. He was the one who wrote an open letter in 1976 to then-First Secretary of Polish Communist Party, Edward Gierek in response to his assertion that the People's Republic is a secular state.
In 2006 Father Ludwik was was awarded by the President of Poland with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polish Rebirth. He is also a laureate of many other prizes such as Lublin Youth City Council Award. Moreover in March 2011 “Tygodnik Powszechny” honored father Ludwik with the Medal St George.
