YEAR 2011 NEWS

Friends and former students celebrated 50th anniversary of father’s Ludwik Wiśniewski priesthood. The dominican for years has served God and Homeland leading priesthoods in Gdansk, Lublin, Wrocław and Sankt Petersburg. For many people father has become the authority, guide and friend who played an important role in their private, professional and social life.

The anniversary celebration that took place between 23-26th June 2011 with more than 300 people from  Poland and abroad participated alongside with Bogdan Borusewicz - Marshal of the Senate, Tadeusz Mazowiecki - Prime Minister 1989-1990, Katarzyna Hall - Minister of Education, Jacek Karnowski - President of Sopot, Jarosław Obremski - Vice-president of Wrocław. Lublin Region was represented by Henryka Strojnowska - Voivode, Jacek Sobczak - Vice-marshal,  Marian Krol - Chairman of the Central-east Board of Solidarity trade union and co-host of the celebration - Krzysztof Żuk - President of Lublin. Ceremonial mass took place in the Basilica of Dominicans in Lublin. Father Ludwik accepted many thanks and gratulations, there were also many thanksgiving letters delivered. Father Ludwik was also awarded a special prize of Solidarity and a medal from President of Lublin.

Three-day meeting of former students and friends of father Ludwik in Nasutow has a really familiar dimension. Common masses, trips around Lublin Region, fireplaces, singing by the guitars, evening filled with memories. Meeting was ended by planting "The Oak-Monument" devoted to the memory of Janusz Krupski - former minister, who died tragically in Smolensk Catastrophe. Janusz Krupski was former student and a friend of father Ludwik Wiśniewski.

Voluntary service during the anniversary was delivered by the youth from Złota 9 Academy - citizen service school led by Ludwik Wiśniewski.
