YEAR 2011 NEWS

In May we celebrate again the Europe Day. This time we will celebrate 3 days long! On 8th May we invite you to the European Bicycle Picnic, on 9th May to the European Information Point, Simulation of European Parliaments` Assembly and the European City Game and on the last day a conference about the use of structural funds in Lubelskie Region will take place.

European Bicycle Picnic, 8th May 2011

We start at 2 pm from the Lublin City Hall. From this point we will go together by bike to Zalew Zemborzycki where the picnic will take place. During the Picnic a lot of interesting activities are planned, such as: European competitions with prizes, bicycle city, games for children, artistic shows and barbecue.

Everybody is invited to participate, not only fans of two wheels.

Competition "Simulation of assembly of the European Parliament", 9th May 2011

We invite schools to take part in the simulation of assembly of the European Parliament which will be held on 9 May 2011 in the Lublin City Hall (City Council Debating Chamber).

The purpose of the simulation is spreading knowledge about the structure and functioning of the European Union, and especially the European Parliament, and developing the skills of discussion of rhetoric and argumentation of young people.

The prize is a trip to the European Parliament, founded by prof. Lena Kolarska-Bobińska.

European Urban Games,
9th May 2011

For younger pupils we prepared a city game.
The game will take place in the Centre of Lublin. Its participants will have to find answers to questions concerning European issues connected to our city. With this aim, teams will have to visit institutions, find places and talk with some people. The game starts at 10.30 close to the Lublin City Hall and will finish at 12.30 at latest.  

The participants will form teams of 5 persons accompanied by a teacher. There are prizes for completing the game.

European Information Point,
9th May 2011

We invite all inhabitants of Lublin and Lubelskie Region to the information point where you can get some information about the European Union and get informational materials about EU. The point will have place close to Lublin City Hall, at Plac Łokietka from 9 am to 3 pm.

Conference „European Funds develop Lublin.
Best practices in using European Funds”,
10 May 2011

The conference in the Provincial Office of Lubelskie Region will gather almost 350 beneficiaries of European funds from Lublin (representatives of local authorities, education, health care, church, NGOs, entrepreneurs etc.), to present their experiences in application of funds form EU.

Europe Day is organized by:

Regional Centre of European Information in Lublin,
Europe Direct – Lublin Information Point,
Department of European Funds of the Lublin City Hall and
Rowerowy Lublin Society.
