EUROPEAN MEETING CENTRE - NOWY STAW FOUNDATION
Due to the forthcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of EU on 13 April 2011 at the Auditorium of the Institute of European Studies at the Catholic University of Lublin, we organized a conference "Opportunities and Challenges of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. "
The conference was devoted to the legal aspects of the Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union, Eastern Partnership in the context of the top priorities of the Presidency and cultural opening to the east.
The conference was attended by Jaroslaw Dziedzic - Head of the Eastern Partnership department of Foreign Ministry, Włodzimierz Wysocki - Vice President of Lublin for Education, Culture and Sport, prof. Zbigniew Zaleski - former MEP, Professor Andrzej Gil. KUL - Institute of Eastenr-Central Europe, Artur Kuś, prof. Catholic University and Professor Andrzej Podraza. KUL.
Invited guests came to some interesting conclusions regarding both Eastern Partnership and the efforts of Lublin to become the European Capital of Culture 2016. Moreover, once again the panelists highlighted the important geographical location of Lublin in the context of the issues with were discussed.
The conference was organized by European Meeting Centre - Nowy Staw Foundation, in cooperation with Regional Centre for European Information, and Institute of European Studies of Catholic University of Lublin.
The conference had patronage of Janusz Lewandowski the budget commissioner at the European Commission. The whole project was broadcast online on the websites and www.europeanweb.tv www.prezydencja2011.org. The conference was organized under the project “Presidency at your fingertips” co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
