Between 19 and 28 March 2010 in Palamuse, Estonia, volunteers from Nowy Staw Foundation will take part in the international youth exchange program. Participants will face the problems of national and European unity and diversity in the context of mass media.
For ten days small town in Estonia, Palamuse with population of 600 citizens will change into one big multimedia workshop, filled with diversity. This dose of energy and creativity won’t be anything new for the residents of this small village, but only continuation of what they have been doing so far. This small country owns very good working Community Center and one NGO organization. Most of the residents participate in social and cultural life. As a proof they possess ten folk dancing groups and a couple of choirs in different age categories.
Project participants will be divided into six groups: artistic movie, documentary movie, digital photography, photo poster, visual design and making off. Each group will work under surveillance of a professional trainer. As a result each group will show the final project, prepared thanks to diverse sources of impression, which different profile of every single group offers. The main motive of each one will be the problem of national and European unity and diversity.
The main goal of the project is education and skill improvement in multimedia techniques, culture exchange and cooperation with local community.
Exchange participants will have opportunity to meet and understand each other, thanks to common work and learning through play during two international evenings, movie and theatre night, as well as sport activities and international workshops.
Achievements of the whole project will be presented on the last day, during the final evening in the local Community Center.
Within the confines of extra attractions, organizers prepared a trip to Tartu – the second biggest city in The Republic of Estonia which is famous cultural and education center, and also possibility to use the swimming pool and famous Estonian smoke sauna.
Hopefully, thanks to common initiative of young people from five countries, another small brick will be added in aid of mutual understanding. As famous proverb says: "If you want to go fast – go alone, if you want to go far – let’s go together!" In the direction of building common tolerance and understanding we have to walk fast and far. Hopefully project in Palamuse will be another step to get us closer to this goal.
Project is co-funded by the programme "Youth in Action"
