On 22nd June 2009 the International Platform of Cooperation and Migration was established in Madrid (Spain). It was created by 21 NGOs from several countries from Europe and Latin America: Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Albania, Poland, Romania and Chile.
The Platform has it’s seat in the office of the Humanism and Democracy Foundation in Madrid. It works in cooperation and with support of two international organizations: European Centre of Workers` Questions (EZA) and the Union of Centers of Mediterranean Studies (UCEM).
The Platform is supposed to be the answer to the need of supporting the international solidarity, peace and social justice, that all the organizations involved are feeling and to the necessity of coordination of works for the development of North Africa and Latin America which these organizations are fulfilling.
The organizations are united in reaching two aims: promotion of the international cooperation for development among the social organizations from Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America as well as researches and analysis of the migration processes in the dimension of the European solidarity.
European Meeting Centre - Nowy Staw Foundation is a founder and member of the Platform and moreover it is the only one polish organization associated in it. As a member of the leadership of the Platform was nominated Tomasz Różniak – the president of the Nowy Staw Foundation.
The president of the Platform became Piergiorgio Sciacqua, representative of the Christian Workers` Movement from Italy, whereas the vice-president became Rafael Rodríguez-Ponga, the president of the Humanism and Democracy Foundation from Spain.
