15 youngsters from Schönefeld in Brandenburg and 20 young people from gimnazijum in Niemce and Krasienin met between the 18th and 26th of April in Nasutów to learn more about the Second World War.
The focus was on the incidences in the region of Lublin. The group visited Majdanek, learned about the conditions in Lublin’s ghetto and worked out the biographies of two offenders, who worked in the concentration camp. During a daytrip to Zamość they visited also the Rotunda Zamojska, where thousands of Polish people were executed during the war. Further more the young people worked in the seminar sessions on different topics like anti-Semitism and human rights.
But the youngsters got also to know each other during teambuilding activities or scouting games and during the national evenings, where both cultures had the possibility to show the Polish and German customs, food and dances.
The exchange was funded by the Polish-German Youth Office (PNWM).
