06-13.09. Nowy Sącz Let's debate in Nowy Sacz 6-13.09.2008 Community Media Centre

How do EU politicians and citizens have to react to the current challenges and find ways out of the crisis situation in the aftermath of the referendum in Ireland? These issues will be addressed by young Europeans during the seven day seminar «Let’s Debate» starting Saturday, September 6 in Nowy Sącz, Poland.

Twenty five young people from around Europe will participate in the special sessions organized in the framework of the «Europe for Citizens» programme. The program aimes at initiating a wide dialogue among the citizens of Europe.

During the seminar «Let’s Debate» leaders of civil society organizations from Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Malta, Estonia, Portugal and United Kingdom will learn how to use media in political and civil education. They will debate over the key themes that are of current concern to EU – the future of the reform treaty and the process of the European integration. The seminar will offer opportunities to discuss EU relations with Russia in the light of the recent military conflict in Georgia. Special guests of the seminar will be the rector of the Caucasus University Kakha Shengelia and Georgian journalist and publicist George Mosidze.

The seminar will be an occasion for the schools of political and civil education in Europe to share best practices and initiate new partnerships.

Following the seminar participants will take part in the Economic Forum of Young Leaders.
